When we compare materials and access options for Whitby, we explain where a synthetic fence system such as vinyl, a perimeter fence with security upgrades, or an electric gate operator makes sense for the property.

Fence Installation in Whitby Subdivisions and Backyards
Whether it is privacy, a dog that gets out, kids, a pool or simply marking the property line, the reason changes the build. We walk the access, the grade, the gate location and the material choice with you before putting a price together.
Why Choose GTA Fencing Company in Whitby?
Whitby is growing fast enough that a Brooklin subdivision lot and an established downtown Whitby lot can sit a few kilometres apart and need completely different plans. We start from which one you have, not a single Whitby-wide answer.
New-Subdivision and Established-Lot Experience
Brooklin and Taunton North are still filling in with new-build lots where grading and subdivision timing matter, while Williamsburg and downtown Whitby are established streets with compact, older lot conditions. We plan each to what is actually there.
Height and Setback Compliance
Whitby holds backyard fences to 2.0 metres, with posts and decorative post features allowed to project up to 200 millimetres above that. Properties backing onto an arterial road get a higher 2.4-metre allowance for the section that abuts it. We confirm which limit applies before we finalize height.
Material Compliance
Whitby prohibits barbed wire and razor wire on residential properties, and electric fencing except on land used for farming. Chain link, wood, vinyl and masonry are all permitted when built to the by-law's standards, which is what we default to unless you ask for something else.
Repair Without the Permit Runaround
Fence repairs in Whitby are permit-exempt, so a failed post or a storm-damaged section in Brooklin or Pringle Creek does not wait on a building-permit process. It still has to meet the same height, construction and safety standards as a new fence, and we build to that either way.
